I did not add the jalapeno's ( HOT hot is not for me). This is a nifty recipe if yous similar a non-too-spicy chili. If you are looking for a three warning chili or one that drains your sinuses, this is non information technology. Without jalapenos, it'south got just enough spice and "kick" without having to drink ten glasses of water to cool off. Good flavor, expert consistency. I've now made information technology three times and anybody has loved it.
11/13/2008
I have tried many different chili recipes and this one is our family's favorite! We did Non omit the jalapenos and it is not that spicy! My 3-year-former eats information technology. I suit nothing and go far as the recipe indicates every fourth dimension and its fantastic. Leftovers freeze well.
02/01/2003
Dainty easy chili, this is almost the same chili that I grew up on (with the exemption of the jalapenos). I used i tbsp of cumin, one/2 tsp of oregano and 2 cloves of garlic, although it coulda used 3. I seeded the jalapeno and didn't find it that hot, and then next time I will just chop up the whole thing and add together maybe 3 tbsp. of chili powder (the fashion mom used to). As with all sauces & chili make sure that y'all conform the seasonings earlier serving. (I am full from all the gustatory modality testing, and so I had to skip dinner this night, tomorrows lunch for me). Thanks for the piece of cake recipe Danielle!
12/xv/2008
I love this chili! I like it thicker and add two cans of tomatoes instead of one, two cans of chili beans and two cans of kidney beans. I practice non suit anything else and information technology turns out great!
12/21/2006
Great chili! Effort browning the meat in Guiness, it really brings out the flavor in the meat.
02/04/2005
Ahh, finally! I never could get the ingredients right when doing chili on my own w/out a parcel. I left out the jalapenos for the kids sakes. I added 3 TBS chili powder, 3 cloves of garlic, 1/2 TBS of cumin, one/2 TBS of oregano, and a can of tomatoes instead of the sauce (only because I didn't accept sauce on hand). I also cooked up my own pinto beans considering I didn't have any carmine or pinto canned. Fifty-fifty if I didn't use the recipe to a T it gave me a base of operations from which to build from. I'll brand certain and endeavour it the recipe way next time.
03/26/2007
I've never made chili before, and searched tons of recipes. Found this one, and SO GLAD I DID. I did end upwards calculation more than chili powder, merely that was the only alter. I loved that is was spicy, but not unbearable. Succulent, can't look to arrive once more!
01/12/2001
This chili was very tasty and piece of cake, but non equally spicy as I expected it to be. Later browning the meat, onion, & peppers, I transferred to a slow cooker, added the residuum of the ingredients, and cooked for approximately 4 hours on high. Very Good!
01/02/2011
I have made this Chili once and it was very good! It freezes well! This week I was ill and my children defrosted a freezer handbag of this chili for dinner and a neighbor came over to come across how I was doing and had a basin of information technology with the kids and asked me for the recipe! I did get out out the Bay leaf and the Jalapenos and replaced the diced tomatoes with stewed tomatoes (because I already had a can in the cupboard). I think the next fourth dimension I brand information technology I will try mixing in some ready fabricated chili spice that i have seen at the store...But that is merely the experimenter in me. The recipe is cracking as is! Thanks!
01/xix/2012
Though this recipe is indeed "easy," it is not as flavorful as many other chili recipes I have had, some of which are bachelor at the allrecipes website. It was fine, but not as memorable as others.
02/01/2007
This chili is wonderful. Information technology was spicy without having to add hot sauce, which is a first for me. Wouldn't modify a matter.

12/10/2010
This chili is such a hit and super like shooting fish in a barrel to brand. I did make a couple of changes. I used venison instead of beef and subsituted halfthe jalapenos for dark-green chilis (too hot for the kids).
x/11/2010
I doubled everything and substituted four fresh chopped cayenne peppers and 2 habanero peppers that I had sauteed in olive oil. After an hour or so I added ii more cayennes and two hanbaneros (chopped fine) and transferred all to a crock pot. Starts with a faint heat and ends with a medium glow. No leftovers, everybody loved it!
11/01/2010
I concur with other reviewers that it was very tomato plant-y, simply I liked it like that. This was 1 of the easiest chili recipes I have ever fabricated. I made it only equally written except that I left the bay leafage out.
06/05/2013
Delicious!! I accept already made this chili recipe twice and my family unit has loved it each fourth dimension. The 2nd time I used the chili to brand chili dogs. I made the recipe as listed simply I doubled it to make sure there was enough for my families hardy appetite and possibly a few left overs.
10/19/2010
I get compliments on this every time I make it. I add more cumin and chili powder. I also add together a lot of garlic freshly minced by hand. Nosotros too like it spicy so i usually use iii-4 jalapenos and 1-1 1/2 habanero peppers. I oasis't found anyone yet who doesn't love this chili.
01/16/2012

xi/21/2010
I Absolutely LOVED THIS RECIPE! Best CHILI I Take EVER ATE! Thank You! My husband likewise loved this!
02/16/2012
Excellent and piece of cake!! We didn't accept jalapenos so I added some cayenne pepper (1tsp) to add a bit of extra spice. I also added in about 3/iv tsp celery table salt, and perhaps a tsp of basil and oregeno. Just to flavour it a little more. I normally don't similar to alter a recipe earlier trying it once the way it calls for, just I accept made chili so many times I idea it would be ok!! I'm sure it would have tasted proficient before my additions! I only added spices from some other chili recipe I usually brand from allrecipes. I recollect this ane tasted merely equally good and was much easier! Thanks for sharing!
07/20/2011
Great recipe!! Made information technology with everything I had on hand and information technology turned out to exist the all-time chili I've ever made!! This is my new favorite chili!!
11/23/2009
This is an piece of cake and splendid recipe. I accept cooked this often. The only thing I practice differently now is add an extra can of chili beans and almost tsp of saccharide.
11/26/2010
Great spicy chili. I used a seasoning mix from this site merely still used the jalapenos.
12/07/2009
This recipe is so quick and easy, perfect for a weekday meal. I used footing turkey instead of beefiness and upped the chili pulverisation to three tablespoons. Everything else was the same. I'll be making this all winter long! Thanks for a cracking recipe!
01/09/2011
Didn't apply the chile peppers or the bay leaf and it was still excellent!
09/12/2010
Very easy and proficient, but not equally spicy as I was expecting (hoping). I added corn, an extra garlic clove, kidney beans, black beans (no chili beans), and I substituted the beef for basis turkey. I experience similar there was something missing but information technology could have just been "corn staff of life" :)
11/06/2010
Very succulent! Will brand information technology a chip spicier the next time.
07/xiv/2009
If your home has more ane person living it it, brand your life easy--DOUBLE THIS RECIPE WHEN Yous MAKE IT! I had to make information technology twice in i calendar week because my effort to freeze some for a rainy day was thwarted when my husband defrosted and ate it afterward nosotros had finished up what was allocated for "immediate consumption"! This is a corking recipe--if you like a fiddling more heat, add actress chili pulverization & more jalapenos. :)
01/19/2011
i loved this recipe! minimal ingredients and delicious! next time i would add a half lb more than ground beef, and maybe some more pepper :)
12/05/2010
Awesome chili recipe. I accept been trying out dissimilar chili recipes on my family and was told stop and they gave this recipe 5 stars and 2 thumbs upwardly. My only changes were to leave out the chili peppers and bay leaf but did take the advice of Darren West. by calculation the beer. Definitely a winning recipe!
01/28/2012
My husband loves this, i didnt use the bay leaf tho
03/04/2010
Slap-up chili recipe - added additional 1/4 lb meat to make it extra thick & a chip of garlic - cooked in 300* oven for ii hrs - added beans and returned to oven for another 1/two hr - left in warm oven til dinner fourth dimension - served with big green salad, home broiled tortilla fries & sour cream - excellent meal
09/11/2010
This was my 1st time making chili and information technology turned out smashing. I added more garlic and, for the jalapenos, used 1 with and 1 without the seeds. I also added a stick of butter and brown sugar. The commencement taste is sweet, then yous go the spicy "kick". It was a not bad residuum. I also added potatoes. Anybody loved information technology :)
12/xiv/2011
Turned out excellent and everyone loved it.
02/24/2011
This recipes is great, I changed a couple things around, I used Mccormick Chili powder (mild), 2 jalapenos chopped upwards with seeds, 2 cans of diced tomatoes (one with green chiles) 2 cans of beans (i pinto/ 1 kidney drained) I didnt utilize bay leaf or cumin. I similar my chili thick and it turned out cracking with the correct amount of spice. I will deffinately make this recipe once more.
10/04/2010
Delish! Hot and Spicy!
12/12/2011
Such a groovy recipe!!!! I made this last dark and it was delicious. The merely thing i did different was apply dried beans which i made certain to cook beforehand and likewise, i used flour to thicken information technology at the stop because I like my chili thick. Delicious!
09/26/2011
Merely made this recipe for my family and they loved it!! it was unproblematic and piece of cake to make but is so delish!!
10/05/2010

10/25/2010
Information technology was my first time making chili and my married man and daughter LOVED information technology!!!! I highly recommend this!
04/26/2010
Information technology was the showtime fourth dimension I didn't use the ready made packets of chili seasoning, and it came out good!! I didn't put chili peppers in because I didn't take any, and the chili was expert, simply not hot at all. We enjoyed it!!
11/xvi/2011
This is an absolute bomb recipe for chili! Loved information technology! And so did my married man!
12/07/2011
I'm new to cooking and recently started for my family and the wife and kids raved over this! It came out perfect as my cooking skills are nigh nix. Cheers
01/08/2002
This tasted more than like spaghettie sauce than chili. Mode to tomato-ey. I had to add abour four more tablespoons of chili pulverization merely to make it gustatory modality better.
12/31/2001
I have never made chili before in my life and I am non a large chili eater. We had a chili cook off at work and I won 3rd place out of 40 entries. I was excited and my husband loved the chili. It IS WONDERFUL!!!
01/15/2012
I could just give it 4 stars since I changed it upwards a scrap. I added actress bell pepper, an extra clove of garlic and an extra tablespoon of chili powder. I likewise added an extra 1/ii tsp. of cumin. In identify of the jalapeno I added a can of rotel, which gave it only enough heat for us since we like spicy food. With my modifications, this is a 5 star recipe.
01/09/2010
Whole Family loved information technology!
08/26/2001
This was the first time,I e'er made chili, and this was the best. Everyone loved it. I'll give this chili five stars.
12/xxx/2011
I made something very like to this tonight. Since it was for the wife and kids, I couldn't brand it likewise hot so I did not add any peppers, just I did brand the following changes (it probably is about but as hot as it would exist following the recipe). 1) As I already stated, no jalepeno peppers, or other hot peppers were used. I added sme mad dog 357 Ghost Pepper hot sauce to add additional heat to my basin. If I was making this for myself or made a 2nd pot, I would exist adding in habaneros and ghost peppers all the same. 2) I used 2.5 tablespoons of chili powder, only i.5 was regular chili pulverization, and another tablespoon was chipotle chili pulverization. This adds that burnt chipotle taste and it's really skillful! It also adds a lot of heat, because chipotle chili pulverization is v-eight times hotter than regular chili powder. For even more rut, use no regular chili pulverization and 2.v tablespoons of chipotle chili powder. 3) I added 1/2 teaspon of basis cayenne pepper. Cayenne is adequately hot, merely extremely flavorful so even a small-scale corporeality tin can add together a lot of flavor. For hotter chili, add some other teaspoon of cayenne pepper. 4) I used 2 bay leaves. 5) Serve over brown basmati rice. Even if yous don't specially care for brown rice. This recipe can be improved upon following my changes, just I volition however requite this 5 stars if post-obit the original instructions. I like things hot and spicy, so my changes suit my personal gustation amend.
09/26/2012
This was the best chili I have ever made!!! Information technology had several levels of flavor and the jalapeno did not make information technology spicy as I removed the seeds and membrane. I tripled the recipe for lots of leftovers and am so glad I did!! The only thing I did different was I threw it all in a crockpot and let information technology cook on low all day.
01/12/2008
An fantabulous base recipe. I left out the jalapenos and found it still had enough kick. Next time I volition add a one/2 cup carmine pepper besides.
07/x/2011
This was my start chili soup ever, and it came out great. Except for I might have used too much Guiness (a whole beer bottle), and I could gustation a lilliputian bitterness in the soup, but information technology withal didn't touch the flavour much. Highly recommend!
01/26/2012
Liked this i! I added Franks Cerise Hot and substituted dark-green peppers for hot peppers.
09/17/2011
I used only i can of Rotelle. Wow...fabulous for a fall lunch.
03/21/2012
I accept made this twice at present and both times it tasted great! This last time I also added zucchini and a can of yellowish corn drained. Yum.
02/03/2010
This was a standard base chili. I only had a small tin of diced tomatoes and it had diced green chiles in it as well, and I used mexican tomato sauce (Del Fuerte make) and added another box to make upward for the missing diced tomatoes. I used pinto beans but I would have liked Ranch style or kidney beans better, but I remember that a matter of preference. I think I used double the garlic though as it was minced in the jar and I used a pocket-sized spoon of it. This did seem to be lacking something, some depth and some tang. I added some Cholula brand hot sauce to it at the table. Maybe a little cocoa powder and some vinegar or hot sauce is all information technology needs? This didn't make our favorites though, so we won't set up information technology again, but I did have fun trying out a new recipe.
10/21/2011
Fixed recipe as shown...very practiced. Several family members said 'a keeper'. I gave information technology a 4-star but because had to remove seeds and veins from jalapenos to please others...I would similar more than heat, simply still good.
08/18/2005
This does have a kick, only not overwhelming. It's a very standard recipe, only corking comfort food. Plus you can tell your friends y'all made it from scratch instead of ownership 1 of those seasoning packets. Photo available on my profile page.
01/26/2012
For a basis meat chill, this is quite good. Can easily be modified with your own flavorings to personal preference.
12/27/2002
This Recipe was incredible!!!!!!
10/25/2007
This Chili was delicious. I used 3 tbl. of Jalapenos, and it was nice and hot. Give thanks you!
01/17/2007
Smashing chili!! I did add together a can of lycopersicon esculentum sauce and omitted the jalepenos. Perfect for cold nights! I recommend simmering the entire fourth dimension to allow the flavors to come together.
12/21/2011
I didn't add together the jalapeno'southward, made my ain chili pulverization and used kidney and black beans. This was awesome. My husband said information technology'due south better than his mom's. Will definitely make this dish again.
12/13/2009
Bears Vs Green Bay Game: This chili is so good, information technology has taken my "Bear'south" heed off the fact the Chicago Bears are getting trounce at the moment. I added some suggestions of other members. I browned the beef in beer, calculation the onion & pepper while browning meat. I also increased the chili powder, I realized later on getting back from the store I was out of cumin so I substituted the spice with back-scratch. I had some neat whole tomatoes so I also added a chopped upward tomato, and a can of corn, and 1 TBS of oregano. Yum Yum Yum... You gotta try this if your looking for something piece of cake for a cold Dominicus afternoon! Of course I served information technology with corn staff of life! Happy Holidays!
04/08/2001
this recipe was great I thought this was a little thin too and very spicy for my gustatory modality buds, but my husband loved this will brand again!!!!
eleven/08/2011
I Dear this chili. I left out the jalapeno'due south for the sake of my kids simply otherwise prepared true to recipe. Dandy flavor, consistancy, and it'due south really easy.
12/06/2004
This recipe is ready in no time and everyone that has tried it has absolutely loved information technology
01/fourteen/2009
Great, like shooting fish in a barrel chili recipe. I used a tin can of rotel in the place of the peppers and i eight oz. tin can of tomato sauce. It is yummy! Thanks!
11/05/2007
Groovy pot of chili! Unabridged family loved this. Our only addition was sour cream and cheddar cheese every bit toppings. Easy to make and very tasty. Cheers!
03/xxx/2003
We take used this recipe many times. Nosotros have it simmering on the stove right at present. I but wanted to say that it is absolutely FANTASTIC!! We usually add a footling extra chili powder and that is all. It is dandy as is. Give thanks yous Danielle
xi/12/2006
Oh my gosh this chili burned my mouth up. I call up it was my fault though... I put a small-scale can of diced jalapeno'south in information technology, and it was more than ii Tablespoons. Oops, I read the recipe wrong and I thought it said 1/2 cup jalapenos. It as well was a bit too thick for my taste. Adjacent time, I will omit the jalapenos completely and add some other can of tomato sauce.
02/28/2008
This chili had a wonderful season. I brought information technology to my work for treat mean solar day in the crock pot and all my co-workers loved it.

My fiance admittedly loves this recipe. He volition even add extra hot peppers for a sinus clearing kicking!
eleven/11/2011
My hubby fabricated this for our church chili cook-off, turned out peachy. Heavy on the chili powder, i would say 2 tsp, max. We alsoused a tsp of serrono pepper and but 3 of jalo.
01/15/2009
Fantastic! I added a 1/2 cup espresso to the chili and it only added a bolder and more smokey taste. Very good and piece of cake to make.
10/19/2014
Try this minus the beans & on a hot dog or brat. Trust me.
10/06/2009
This was and so very good. I used chili grind for the meat, and I used extra jalapenos since I was trying to use mine up from the garden. I always up the garlic content, and so I used a few cloves. I followed ane users advice and browned the meat and onions in a flavorful beer. I added a can of tomato paste. I couldn't find my bay leaves, so I left that out. I used the white chili beans because that's what I prefer...simply other than that I followed the rest of the recipe and it turned out very well. I volition make this again.
11/06/2007
Made this tonight for my family. Left the peppers out to make information technology kid friendly. Was a large hit!! So like shooting fish in a barrel and yummy!!
10/20/2011
Crawly for being quick merely the season wasn't in that location. It tasted like a can of tomato plant sauce with meat in information technology. And so, I added quite a bit more seasoning to it. Hot sauce and fifty-fifty just a bit of hot sauce, beer and a niggling coffee! Delish! Thanks for the easiness of a quick dinner though!
12/11/2006
My boyfriend is a huge chili fan, so I was nervous about making it for the first time, simply he loved this! Easy to brand and delicious!
ten/20/2011
I actually honey this recipe. Every time I get in, I get rave reviews and people are constantly asking for the recipe. Only changes I make: I like my chili to exist meaty then along with lean basis chuck, I also add ane pound Italian sausage which tastes wonderful. I'chiliad non a big fan of chili beans, so I utilize one can of nighttime carmine kidney beans and one can of black beans, both rinsed thoroughly to remove excess salt. These beans give it a prissy color and gustatory modality great. I leave out the bay leaf and jalapeno peppers since not everyone likes it spicy. I like to serve it with cheesy cornbread. Definitely ane of my most requested meals!
xi/27/2011
This is a bang-up chili recipe. I simply added a little oregano and another jalapeno (since we like it TEXAS HOT), and doubled the beans and tomatoes to make information technology thicker and it made a corking batch of chili!!
02/07/2012
This is a perfect classic chili recipe with just the right amount of kick. Easy to customize but still delicious as is.
01/21/2007
This is very piece of cake and quick to brand. It's a good basic chili, but I think it needs your own personal touch to arrive great. I found that it was a lilliputian banal for my taste. Next fourth dimension, I'll add a lot more than cumin and a little more chili powder. It is a proficient recipe for building on.
01/17/2018
This recipe is Style likewise soupy. I had to reduce it twice, and it was still runny.
11/05/2001
The best tasting chili ever.
03/13/2000
Made a big pot of this recipe for my adult sons and friends. They all loved it! Served information technology with corn breadstuff muffins. Added some red peppers (the tiny little ones) instead of jalepeno peppers. Will definitely make once more.
